Location: 391 Myrtle Ave, Albany, NY 12208

The Vascular Group has an opening in the Surgical Scheduling Department.  This position is responsible for scheduling surgeries, office based procedures, high tech radiology testing and pertinent follow up appointments for patients.  This also includes obtaining all necessary pre-surgical or pre-procedural insurance requirements (authorizations, pre-determination, pre-certifications).  This role works closely with our clinical staff and physicians.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience scheduling for a busy medical office or medical billing required
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of health care terminology required
  • Advanced understanding of medical reimbursement process and CPT coding required
  • Experience explaining complex scheduling and medical reimbursement processes to patients preferred
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Excellent communication skills with a focus on customer satisfaction particularly in difficult situations and over the phone

This position provides nursing support within the procedure suite.  This is demonstrated by collaboratively working with our health-care team by providing patient information that impacts the planning, directing, providing and evaluating patient care. The position is under the direct supervision of the procedure suite nurse manager, procedural physician, and procedure suite registered nurses.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care to patients undergoing procedures within the Practice
  • Assist the health care team in the peri procedural teaching of vascular patients
  • Assist physicians with procedures
  • Act as liaison between patients, families, referring physicians and other health care workers to ensure that all information is communicated effectively in regards to the planned procedure
  • Answer and return office phone calls from patients and/or visiting nurses
  • Arrange for outpatient exams, coordinating arrangements for follow up and home care for patients, and follow up with referring physicians as necessary
  • Schedule appropriate non-invasive and invasive vascular laboratory tests
  • Review  of office labs and report findings to physician or registered nurse
  • Participate in teaching programs of the Vascular Group, PLLC, including free screenings, presentations to nursing students, and staff at Albany Medical Center Hospital
  • Demonstrate thorough understanding of vascular disease and surgical procedures as related to patient care and education

About the Position

This is a full-time position, Monday – Friday.

 Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year previous LPN experience
  • Current license to practice nursing in the State of New York
  • Current CPR certification required
  • Office experience preferred in a surgical and/or primary care setting required

The Vascular Group is seeking a qualified applicant for a position in our Vascular Lab.  We are looking for a Registered Vascular Technologist to perform a variety of noninvasive diagnostic procedures to detect vascular disease.  Including but not limited to duplex ultrasound examinations, pulse volume recordings, segmental Doppler pressure measurements, and treadmill stress studies. This position will complete necessary documentation of tests including reports for hospital and laboratory records, billing forms and laboratory logs. Review patient assessment of signs and symptoms including documentation of patient’s medical and surgical history, medications, and presenting symptoms.

About the Position

This is a full time position that will perform testing at various on-site locations (Vascular Clinic/ Lab, Nursing Units, ER, OR, etc.) and is responsible for the transportation of lab equipment from the vascular laboratory vehicle to and from the various satellite locations.

Qualifications

  • This position requires a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a vascular laboratory or two years’ experience in a vascular laboratory plus five years’ experience in a general ultrasound department.
  • Successful completion of the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography registry examination in both Vascular Technology and Vascular Ultrasound Principles, thus attaining the certification as a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT).
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Able to effectively communicate on a wide range of issues in an age-appropriate manner with patients, staff and visitors.
  • Must be able to coordinate resources with patient demands; sets priorities for work assigned and achieves desired results.
